Yackandandah Mens Shed members undertake a range of projects. Sometimes it’s making something for personal use, Sometimes building or upgrading things for the shed. We also take on community projects to assist other groups in the Yackandandah area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We try not to take work away from local contractors but if you have a small job and can’t find any local tradies to help, feel free to contact Yack Shack to discuss your ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindling cutting: Our members convert surplus shipping pallets into kindling which is then sold, mostly through YCDco, our local community hardware\/petrol station. Funds from kindling sales help maintain and improve the Yack Shack<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Push Bike repairs and maintenance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yackandandah is a Mecca for mountain bike riders and also has a healthy (pun intended) population of more casual bicycle enthusiasts. After our local bike repair shop closed up, a couple of members offered services in pushbike repair and maintenance. We now have a steady stream of bikes of all shapes and sizes coming through the workshop. Here’s the doctor working on the front suspension of a client’s bike.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chess board and pieces: Recently, a Yackandandah resident came in to see if we could make a bespoke chessboard as a present for family members. Having just finished a couple for their own use, Jon D and Nico V took on this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John D designed and assembled the main board. Playing squares are ask and jarrah with red gum and another local eucalypt trim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nico designed a modernist set of chess pieces That pack neatly together in a tray under the board. Chess pieces made from red stringybark, another local eucalypt species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bus Shelters: Indigo Shire contracts Yack Shack to fabricate bus shelters for installation along the Shire’s rural road networks to give shade and shelter from rain for school students waiting for school busses. Our welding crew fabricate and assemble these steel framed bus shelters then hand over to the Shire’s outdoor staff to cast a concrete pad and install the shelters where required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
